When is your next holiday planned? If you haven’t marked your calendar yet and don’t have any reservations made, you really ought to consider Menorca. Holidays to Menorca can be contagious, and most who go are destined to return!
Off the coast of Spain are the little Balearic Islands with a history dating back to The Bronze Age. Among these islands you will find Menorca with over six hundred kilometers of coastline. With steep, rocky cliffs to the north and white, sandy beaches with rich vegetation and pines to the south, this is a beach lover’s paradise to be sure.
To the interior you will find a majestic lake, and the island’s highest point Monte Toro.
At 357 meters, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama. Protected as a biosphere reserve,
you will find over 150 species of bird, and some 30 cataloged species of butterfly.
In the cities you can enjoy many festivals and celebrations. Cultural music, food,
costume, and dancing mark a tradition of celebrating that has not changed for 600 years.
Menorca’s love for horses is a part of everyday life. They are often the centerpiece of the
parades in many of the fiestas. The ‘Festes de Sant Joan’ is held annually in Ciutadella.
The fiesta lasts for three days, and it is brought to a close with a fireworks display.
History buffs can take in The National Museum and many ancient sites including
churches and burial grounds of antiquity. There is The Aquarium that displays the flora
and fauna of The Mediterranean, which is fun for all ages. In the cities you can also find
fun for the adults with taverns, nightclubs, live music, and discotheques. Restaurants and
hotel accommodations offer a wide variety for couples or families regardless of your
budget.
If you have not been to Menorca before, perhaps this is the year for you to go. If you
have been there already, you remember how great it was, and you probably want to
return. Holidays in Menorca have that affect on people! It is time for you to experience
what thousands of tourists have already discovered!
