The island of Menorca is the second largest of the stunning Spanish Balearic islands. Brimming with spectacular beaches that entice thousands of visitors each year, this island is an ideal place to spend your holidays.
As you travel around the island you will discover many of the quaint fishing villages along the north shore, as well as sightseeing tours, museums, and heaps of festivals and local events to take part in. Dotted with charming villas and superb attractions, Menorca also offers visitors a chance to participate in the horse show at Club Escola Menorquina.
This paradise island provides the perfect environment to enjoy horse-related activities. Horses play an important role in both the cultural and social life of the islanders. Visitors will be amazed by the beauty of the Menorcan horses and their unique and characterful costumes. These costumes have been designed especially for the show, as the riders complete the display in traditional island style.
The Club Escola Menorquina show demonstrates the art of taming wild horses. These purebred Monorquin horses are specially trained by local experts to participate in the many festivals that take place on the island. A different part of the show is a procession of traditional Menorcan horse drawn carriages that are pulled by Andalucian horses.
After the show, spectators are able to visit the stables and see each of the horses. These shows are held from June until September each year and so anyone taking a holiday in Menorca during the summer will have a chance to experience a highly entertaining illustration of Menorca’s unique equestrian heritage.
